Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex condition which varies both across and within individuals. Depending on the severity and type of the ADHD, various aspects of a person’s life could be affected. People suffering from ADHD may require various different types of treatment from different specialists.
Speech and Language Therapy may be helpful in cases where ADHD patient has verbal deficits, commonly found in young people with ADHD, and could present itself through problems such as not following instructions and inability to focus. Speech development should be considered as part of the assessment process. This topic provides an overview of ADHD and its management across the lifespan from an SLT perspective.
